PERSONAL TRAINER

The National Exam is held during the last week of class. Fifteen hours of “hands-on” practical training prepares you to actually work with clients one on one. Also, fifteen hours of lectures will include: anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, musculoskeletal injuries, health screen, etc. This is unlike any other certification program available. Proof of CPR certification is required for the Personal Trainer certification to be issued. (First Aid in the Allied Health Section of this schedule).

To extend the certification qualifiers of our 6-week educational personal trainer program, the World Instructor Training Schools {W.I.T.S.} has created a new directive that graduates of the Personal Trainer National Certification must complete a 20-hour internship. The pilot program will begin in 5 states and go on from there in 2005. W.I.T.S. will aid in the placement of graduates where possible with internships and employers. (W.I.T.S. will assist with internships.) The completion of the required internship will allow W.I.T.S. to issue the national certification. In lieu of the certification being issued, after graduation, W.I.T.S will issue a temporary 6-month certificate. Graduates can start the internship or employment training to get started in the fitness field, while completing the final stage of the national certification.

New Renewal Requirement: Personal Trainers, Group Exercise, Senior Fitness and Aqua Fitness certified persons would only be renewed after January 1, 2006 with a signed policy form of performance. The performance form will be a confirmation that they worked a minimum of 20 hours in the field over each passing year to stay current with fitness professional standards. An employer or some other verifiable source must confirm that the W.I.T.S. certified person helped another human being improve their health status by signing the form. Donated time to church fitness groups and other organizations will be strongly encouraged for people on sabbatical or not currently working during the 24 month renewal term. This will not replace, but be in addition to, our normal continuing education credit hours to renew the certification every 2 years. For more information, check out: www.witseducation.com.
