Business and Training Center > Spring Quarter > Network +
In order to provide an affordable, fast paced curriculum that will bring a student to a marketable level, we have put together a set of two courses that will prepare you to pass the Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+ and iNet+ certification tests. When you pass your iNet+ test, the CIW program will also award you their CIW Associate certification.
Students will need to take our Network+ course followed by our new Routing course (see CCNA/Routing). If you have not taken Network+ from the BTC you will be asked to pass an equivalency test before enrolling.
Network+ is a vendor-neutral course that focuses on the fundamentals of network deployment, maintenance, and security. Through hands-on training, students will learn skills and concepts that are used in the field everyday.
You will learn: What the different components of a network are and how to configure them. How to load a server for control of your network. How to load different operating systems like Windows 2000, and Linux. How to find computers on a network and look for vulnerabilities. How to subnet a network for efficiency. What different types of viruses and attacks there are, and how to protect against them. How to build a simple web page. How to troubleshoot a wide array of network problems
Prerequisites: It is recommended that you take CompTIA A+ or have equivalent experience before taking this class. Textbook and certification exam prep materials included. (40 hours)
The A+ and Network+ certifications now count as electives for the new MCSA, (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) certification.

This course will assist in preparing you to pass your CCNA certification, providing you have taken Network+ at the BTC.
After completing Network+ you will have a strong understanding of many networking concepts. This gives us the ability to concentrate solely on routing. The course is very hands-on and you will learn by doing. Each day will include several labs with short lectures applicable to the labs you will be performing in class.
You will learn: What routing is. What the different components of a router are. How to access the router interface. How and why to route data within either a small or large environment. How switching works.
How to create VLANs. How to protect your network through the use of ACLs (Access Control Lists). How dynamic routing works. How to monitor and maintain your routers. Prerequisites: Network+ or equivalent knowledge is required. Again, since our Network+ course is tailor made to fulfill all the requirements for Network+ and the first half of the CCNA program, if you have completed Network+ anywhere else, you will have to pass an equivalency test before you can enroll in this routing class. The same policy applies if you have prior equivalent knowledge.

We are proud to present our new Catia Certification course to the public. This course is designed for the student with little or no experience with Catia or Computer Aided Drafting. Although it is entry level, this is not your simple two day class as you may have seen before. This will cover completely all the objectives for the Dassault Systems Catia Specialist Certification.
What does Certification mean? In many training programs you receive a certificate of completion, or possibly an open book test at the end of the course. With The Dassault Systems Certifications you will have to pass a computer based test at an authorized testing center that will monitor your progress. You will have 75 minutes to complete 72 Questions with a passing score of 75%. This ensures to the industry that you have the skills necessary to do the job.
As well as preparing students to pass the certification, we will also investigate many advanced topics as well and several labs and quizzes to help build memory retention.
The topics covered will include: Utilization of the common tools and interface of Catia. Ability to work comfortably with the various view manipulations. Use and recognition of the various toolbars and commands. Creating profiles in Sketcher learning the use of geometry, constraints and analysis. Working with Part Design for feature creation and modification, filleting and drafts. Understand and manipulate the Specification Tree. Use of the compass to manipulate structures and parts. Creating various hole types and tolerances. Creation of simple assemblies. Functioning in a multi-plane environment. Use of lofting techniques to seam planes. Creating surfaces with points, angles, and splines. Creating slots. shafts and grooves from profile. Use of Boolean operations to create part from individual solids. Mirroring and duplicating surfaces. Basic wireframe design, split, trim and extrapolating in wireframe. Understanding Assembly Save Management. Part organization and updating. Learn basic Generative Drafting concepts 50 hours. Textbook included.
