A+ certification is a testing program sponsored by the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) to certify the competency level of service technicians. Certification requires passing two exams.
This hands-on nuts and bolts class covers all aspects of troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, hardware installation, configuration, diagnostics and repair of modern computers. After completing this class you will have a thorough understanding of PCI, AGP, PC architecture, BIOS settings and both IDE and SCSI disk subsystems. In addition we will also cover everything you need to pass the computer hardware sections of the CompTIA Linux+ and LPI Level 1 certifications. Textbook included.

Topics to be covered are: Local area networks, basic network connectivity, system optimization under DOS, Windows 9x, 2000 and XP as well as the management of the hardware and software components. This is an entry-level course; basic understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems is desired. Textbook included along with certification exam prep materials.
The CompTIA A+ and Network + certifications now count as electives for the new MCSA, (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) certification.
