NETWORK+

In order to provide an affordable, fast paced curriculum that will bring a student to a marketable level, we have put together a set of two courses that will prepare you to pass the Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+ and iNet+ certification tests. When you pass your iNet+ test, the CIW program will also award you their CIW Associate certification.

Students will need to take our Network+ course followed by our CCNA Routing course (see CCNA/Routing). If you have not taken Network+ from the BTC, you will need instructor permission before enrolling.

Network+ is a vendor-neutral course that focuses on the fundamentals of network deployment, maintenance, and security. Through hands-on training, students will learn skills and concepts that are used in the field everyday.

You will learn:

  • What the different components of a network are and how to configure them
  • How to load a server for control of your network
  • How to load different operating systems like Windows 2000, and Linux
  • How to find computers on a network and look for vulnerabilities
  • How to subnet a network for efficiency
  • What different types of viruses and attacks there are, and how to protect against them
  • How to build a simple web page
  • How to troubleshoot a wide array of network problems

Prerequisites: It is recommended that you take CompTIA A+ or have equivalent experience before taking this class. Textbook and certification exam prep materials included. (40 hours)

The A+ and Network+ certifications now count as electives for the new MCSA, (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) certification.
